Creating a plan for growth

Our region's population is expected to grow from 7 million to more than 10 million people in the next 20 years. The METRONext Moving Forward Plan is designed to help ease traffic congestion.

It's 500 miles of travel improvements with the goal of giving you more ways to move around our region, with no tax increase.

The Moving Forward Plan is a plan for traffic - the result of input from community members, experts and elected officials. It proposes expansions across several types of transportation, along with investments in service and accessibility.

    Miles of Regional Express Network, including two-way HOV Lanes

    New or improved Park & Rides and Transit Centers

    Miles of light rail with a METRORail extension to Hobby Airport

    Miles of new METRORapid bus service that operates like light rail, including an extension to Bush Airport

    Miles of BOOST and Signature bus service, plus accessibility and usability improvements for the disabled and seniors
